Rocky Mountain Fur Con was first organized in an effort create an event to cater to the large furry population found in Colorado. It was originally scheduled to take place in 2006, but due to scheduling conflicts, it was delayed until 2007. All of the finer aspects of anthropomorphic, or more commonly, "Furry" fandom, are celebrated here. Our programming includes workshops and seminars in acting, costume-building, animation, writing, art, design, music and more. We even host a cooking show. A first in the furry community.

Rocky Mountain Fur Con is a event sponsored by the Mid-American Anthropomorphic and Arts Corporation, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.

"What is furry?"

Well, first of all, let's talk about the Fandom a little bit. The Furry fandom is a fandom for fictional anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics. Think of characters like Bugs Bunny or Disney's Robin Hood. Examples of anthropomorphic attributes include exhibiting human intelligence and facial expressions, the ability to speak, walk on two legs, and wear clothes. The fandom is celebrated and promoted by hosting and attending furry conventions or "furmeets" such as Rocky Mountain Fur Con, Further Confusion or similar.

A "Furry" simply refers to a member of this fandom. Many Furries select a specific animal that they relate to, either physically or spiritually. Some furry fans create and wear costumes, commonly known as fursuits, of their characters.
